SMU Hillel serves as the foundation of Jewish campus life at SMU by hosting a wide variety of Jewish social, cultural, educational and religious programs on and around the SMU campus. Jewish undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff from SMU and other local campuses regularly attend our events.

SMU Hillel, under the capable leadership of our Director, Rabbi Heidi Coretz, is a thriving, active Jewish campus organization. During the 2006-2007 academic year, through our well attended programs, over one hundred different Jewish students and some two dozen Jewish faculty and staff participated in SMU Hillel events. We also reached out to the broader campus community through Lunch and Learn programs,  the Annual Interfaith Passover Seder, Campus Yom Hashoah Service, and Israel Fair.

SMU Hillel also serves as a bridge between the local Jewish community and the university. Along with the support of The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, The North Texas Regional Hillel, and our local synagogues, SMU Hillel is an active partner in the Dallas Jewish community. Our students are invited to attend many community events as well as holiday and Shabbat worship services at the Dallas synagogues.

n recognition of the outstanding work of SMU Hillel, we were given the prestigious 2006 Chaplain's Service Award, "for visionary service and creative programming within and beyond the campus community" at the annual SMU Awards Extravaganza. There is only one award given per year by the Office of the Chaplain to a Religious Life organization and so we are very excited by this great honor. It is also the first time ever that SMU Hillel has won the award.

We look forward to an amazing 2007-2008 academic year. Our Co-Presidents, Jennifer Rosemore and Nicole Ido, the SMU Hillel Student Board, the SMU Hillel Advisory Board and Rabbi Heidi Coretz warmly welcome you to join us often.
